Babes Wodumo reportedly storms Moja Love office over money issues
Gqom star Babes Wodumo, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, has allegedly stormed the offices of Moja Love, accompanied by a group of people, demanding additional payment.
This reported incident follows Showmax’s decision not to renew Uthando Lodumo for a third season, a reality show that documented the lives of Babes Wodumo and her late husband, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.
The reality show first premiered in 2021, with its second season airing in 2022.
However, after Mampintsha’s passing in December 2022, Showmax and the production team failed to reach an agreement for a third season.
In an attempt to keep the show alive, Babes Wodumo gave her approval for the production team to pitch it to Moja Love, which eventually agreed to take over.
Sunday World revealed that a source close to the production said the new deal with Moja Love came with significantly lower pay compared to Showmax’s original offer.
While Babes Wodumo initially accepted these terms, things reportedly took a dramatic turn when she later stormed Moja Love’s offices, demanding a pay increase and insisting that she should also receive payment on behalf of Mampintsha, arguing that he was central to the show’s original success.
The alleged confrontation between Babes Wodumo and Moja Love CEO Aubrey Tau is said to have taken place earlier this year while the show was still in production.
