Minister Gayton helps struggling veteran actress
Veteran actress Nandi Nyembe has received a lifeline from Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie after she opened up about her financial struggles.
The 74-year-old actress, known for her iconic roles in Yizo Yizo, Soul City, and Isibaya, recently shared that ongoing health issues have taken a toll on her finances, leaving her in need of support.
McKenzie responded by pledging financial assistance from his personal funds, requesting Nyembe’s banking details in a video shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Expressing his commitment to improving the lives of South African artists, he stated, “We will fix the plight of our artists, we are hard at work already, this is the dying days of suffering for our creatives.”
