
Moja Love releases statement over ‘Isencane Lengane’ saga
Moja Love has addressed growing public criticism following the recent episode of its reality show Isencane Lengane, which has sparked national outrage.
The latest season, now in its seventh installment, follows the lives of Thando and Siyacela Dlamuka, a couple whose rocky marriage has been in the spotlight since they wed as teenagers.
Viewers took to social media demanding that the show be cancelled, expressing serious concerns about the safety of Thando Msomi and accusing the channel of airing content that seemingly normalizes abusive behavior.
Calls for Thando to leave her husband have intensified, with many stating that the program has crossed a line.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, 23 April, Moja Love defended the show’s content, saying:
“Moja Love has been inundated with media inquiries including various views expressed on social media relating to an episode of Isencane Lengane, currently on season 7, which broadcasted on Sunday, 20 April.”
The channel went on to emphasize that the show is not fictional, nor is it scripted for entertainment purposes.
“This is no longer a storyline,” Moja Love stated, explaining that the show is a reflection of real-life events meant to spark conversations around pressing societal issues.
According to the channel, Isencane Lengane aims to explore the complexities of relationships and contribute to ongoing national discussions about gender-based violence.
They reiterated their commitment to using the platform to raise awareness and shed light on uncomfortable truths that affect many South Africans daily.
