Makhadzi makes history as first SA artist to launch AFRIMA 2025 calendar
South African music star Makhadzi continues to solidify her presence on the global stage.
The award-winning performer recently took to Instagram to share her excitement after participating in the opening day of the AFRIMA (All Africa Music Awards) 2025 conference, where she served as one of the official panelists.
“Our first day of @afrima.official CONFERENCE was the best of the best. I have learnt a lot and I can’t wait to share with others soon,” she wrote.
What made the occasion even more powerful was Makhadzi’s candid reflection on her journey.
In a heartfelt note to her fans, she recalled how she was once ridiculed for her English; a challenge she has now transformed into a symbol of triumph.
“Years back my people made fun of my English. Today, I am one of the panellists of the biggest awards in Africa. It all started as a dream, the rest is history,” she shared.
Adding to the significance of the moment, Makhadzi proudly revealed that she is the first South African artist to open the AFRIMA 2025 calendar.
Ending her post on a playful note, the star left fans with a message for the critics, saying: “For those who like spicy sayings, nikulesa, kekeni dilong,” followed by her signature humour.
