South African singer Lira has reached a deeply personal milestone in her journey of recovery following the stroke she suffered in 2022.

The Ixesha hitmaker took to social media to reflect on a full year of singing again, marking her return to the stage after a long and courageous healing process.


Sharing heartfelt moments with her followers, Lira posted photos from her first live performance post-stroke, which took place in May 2024.

The performance was held during a Mother’s Day celebration at the Nirox Foundation, where she graced the stage alongside Maleh and the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

The first time I performed in a public space at last year’s Mother’s Day celebration held at @niroxfoundation with the @johannesburgphilharmonic alongside @maleh_music! 12 May 2024. It’s a year since I’ve been singing post stroke,” she wrote on Instagram.

Since her health scare, Lira has received an outpouring of support from fans across the country who have followed her remarkable comeback.
