Big Zulu set for celebrity soccer tournament
Award-winning rapper Big Zulu may be taking his much-loved celebrity soccer tournament to one of the biggest stadiums in the country.
The Inkabi Nation hitmaker, whose real name is Siyabonga Nene, is reportedly in talks to host the July event at Durban’s iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium.
A source close to the star revealed that discussions with the venue are at an advanced stage, suggesting the popular event could see a major upgrade in both size and stature this year.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Big Zulu confirmed the talks were underway, saying: “We were looking at hosting this year’s tournament at Moses Mabhida, but the talks haven’t been concluded yet. If we get an approval, that would be great for us members of the creative arts.”
The tournament, which brings together big names from music, television and sports, has become a highlight on the local entertainment calendar, blending sport with star power in true South African style.
Aside from his plans on the field, Big Zulu is also preparing to launch a fashion business.
During a recent appearance on Podcast and Chill with Mac G, the rapper shared that he’s aiming to open a store in September.
“The plans for opening in September are in place, as it’ll be heritage month and that’s also what [I’m] excited about, but just looking at getting the best location for my shop so we can get the business up and running,” he told TshisaLIVE.
