
Presley’s memorial and funeral details announced
South Africans will soon come together to celebrate the life of award-winning actor Presley ‘Cobrizi’ Chweneyagae, following news of his untimely passing on 27 May at the age of 40.
His family confirmed that the beloved performer died of natural causes, after experiencing breathing complications.
To honour his legacy, two memorial services have been planned. The first will take place on 3 June in his hometown of Mahikeng, at the Mmabatho Convention Centre.
A second tribute will be held on 5 June at the State Theatre in Tshwane, where fellow industry figures and fans will gather to remember the Tsotsi star’s contribution to the arts.
Presley’s funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, 7 June, at the Akasia Community Hall in Gauteng, with proceedings set to begin at 08:00.
He will be laid to rest at Zandfontein Cemetery in Pretoria.
His family, still reeling from the sudden loss, thanked the public for the outpouring of support and love, while asking for continued privacy during this time.
Presley’s passing has left a noticeable void in South Africa’s entertainment industry, with tributes continuing to pour in for the actor who stole hearts both locally and internationally.
