Selbeyonce leaves Ukhozi FM

Longtime Ukhozi FM presenter Selby “Selbeyonce” Mkhize is saying goodbye to the station after over a decade on air. Her final show airs today, marking the end of a 13-year journey filled with growth, accolades, and countless memories.

Mkhize began her time with Ukhozi FM in 2012 as a contributor on the popular Umnyakazo Top20 show.

Her passion and talent quickly became evident, and by 2014, she was anchoring the weekday afternoon drive show, Woza Nabangani Bakho. A year later, she was signed on full-time, a decision that proved to be a defining moment for both her career and the station.

Over the years, she became a powerhouse voice on Ukhozi FM, captivating listeners with her infectious energy and earning industry recognition along the way.

Her dedication left a mark not just on the airwaves, but on the hearts of her listeners.

Lwazi Mthabela, business manager at Ukhozi FM, shared warm words in honour of her contribution.

“Her commitment and enthusiasm have significantly contributed to the success of the station. She has represented the Ukhozi FM brand with pride and professionalism, winning awards and touching the hearts of many.”

“We are immensely proud of her growth and hard work in building her personal brand, and we wholeheartedly support her as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.”

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Mkhize looked back on her beginnings with deep gratitude.

“I remember when I started on Ukhozi FM, first doing drama shows, then sharing pop culture news on Saturdays, and eventually presenting. You inspire me. The time has come for me to say goodbye to the mighty Ukhozi FM,” she wrote.

“What a wonderful 13 years it has been. Jehova I do not know where to start. Thank you, God, for bestowing upon me this talent, which I never take for granted. Thank you for the best job in the world and the opportunities you have granted me.”
