Former Miss South Africa Kerishnie Naiker has officially defied the odds, revealing that she is walking unaided more than a year after a devastating accident nearly left her unable to walk.
The beloved beauty queen and pharmacist took to Instagram to share a heartfelt update with her followers, a milestone moment in her recovery journey.
“366 days since the injury and celebrating walking 100% unaided against the odds,” she wrote, captioning a video that showed her confidently walking without crutches.
The post was met with an outpouring of support and celebration from fans across South Africa.
Naiker, who made history as the first South African woman of Indian descent to win the Miss SA crown, suffered a serious injury in May 2024 after colliding with a tourist during a visit to Cape Point in the Western Cape.
The fall left her with severe leg injuries, prompting fears that she might not regain full mobility.
Now 51, the former pageant queen credits her recovery to months of intensive rehabilitation and unwavering determination.
Her story has not only inspired her followers but also served as a reminder of resilience in the face of adversity.
