CBS cancels 6 major shows
CBS has officially confirmed the cancellation of six shows, sending shockwaves through its fanbase.
From hard-hitting crime dramas to beloved sitcoms, the network is making space on its schedule for the upcoming 2025–2026 season—and it’s a move that many didn’t see coming.
Network president Amy Reisenbach addressed the decision, explaining that factors like viewership data, cost, and where each series stands creatively all played a role.
“It is not easy to end shows, but we must do it because the schedule is full,” she said.
Among the biggest losses is S.W.A.T., which has faced a rollercoaster of renewal and cancellation. After being saved once before, it was axed again in March 2025.
Shemar Moore, who plays lead character Hondo, confirmed the final blow in an emotional Instagram video.
“We are cancelled again, and it is sad. Nonetheless, I was privileged to work alongside Hollywood’s most amazing crew,” he shared.
Moore also made a last-ditch plea to networks like Netflix, Fox, and NBC to consider reviving the series.
The crime drama FBI: Most Wanted also met its end after six seasons, alongside its sibling show FBI: International, which was wrapped up after four seasons.
Despite solid followings, both shows failed to survive the latest cuts. C
ast members expressed their gratitude, with Keisha Castle-Hughes calling it “a bittersweet moment” and Eva-Jane Willis saying the experience left her with “memories to last a lifetime.”
The comedy Poppa’s House, starring real-life father and son Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., was also shown the door.
Though it only lasted one season, the elder Wayans said in a heartfelt message that the show had still given him more than he could have imagined: “I am walking away with lifelong friendships, gratitude and unforgettable memories.”
Another casualty was The Equalizer, the Queen Latifah-led reimagining of the classic ’80s series.
The show wrapped after five seasons. “Stepping into a role like Robyn was amazing.
The series exceeded every expectation I had for it,” Latifah said in a farewell post.
Also getting a final season is The Neighborhood, which will end with its eighth season.
Despite being a top performer for CBS, the network is preparing to give it what Reisenbach called “a proper farewell with heartfelt moments.”
While fans are disappointed, CBS made it clear these cancellations were not purely based on popularity.
Behind-the-scenes logistics and costs played a major role in the decisions, reinforcing the network’s commitment to managing resources while reshaping its future lineup.
