Kabza De Small caught in music ownership drama after teasing ‘Mabebuza’

Kabza De Small has stirred a heated online conversation after unveiling a new track during a performance in Cape Town, but instead of celebration, the moment has sparked allegations of song theft.

The Amapiano heavyweight teased an unreleased collaboration featuring Mdu a.k.a TRP and vocalist Maline Aura during the reopening of Souk nightclub on Wednesday, 2 July 2025.

A video of Kabza performing the song, reportedly titled Mabebuza, was shared by The Yanos Updates on X, captioned, “Kabza De Small previews new music with Mdu a.k.a Trp & Maline Aura.”

While Kabza did not verbally claim the track as his own, fans quickly accused him of riding on Mdu’s creative wave.

Some alleged that Mdu had played the same track multiple times before Kabza’s recent event, suggesting Kabza was now taking credit for the collaboration.

Social media users were quick to react, with one user, @offxcialzaddy, commenting, “This is Mdu’s remix, original song by Maline Aura.”

Another added, “This is Mdu’s song, uKabza ungenaphi manje?” while @ntsakowapiano questioned the lack of coverage when Mdu first played the song: “Where were all these ‘previews new music’ posts when Mdu played this song probably a hundred times?!”

This controversy comes as Kabza continues to build anticipation for his upcoming album Bab’Motha Part 1, which has already faced delays.

Despite the backlash, the hitmaker hasn’t addressed the accusations, nor has he confirmed if Mabebuza will be included on the album.
