Shauwn Mkhize crowned president of Eswatini football giants Mbabane Highlanders

Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize has officially stepped into a new era in her football journey, confirming that she has acquired Eswatini football giants Mbabane Highlanders.

The businesswoman and reality TV star made her first public appearance and delivered a speech as club president over the weekend, standing alongside her son Andile Mpisane, and his wife, Tamia.

This bold move comes shortly after her failed legal attempt to have Royal AM reinstated in the South African Premier Soccer League earlier in July.

MaMkhize is now redirecting her focus to the Eswatini-based side, embracing a leadership role with renewed purpose and vision.

Speaking during her official introduction on Saturday, 12 July, MaMkhize reflected on the symbolism of her presence at the club and the fresh energy she intends to bring.

“They said their colours are black, and I said this is the unity of South Africa and Eswatini. What can I bring along, enhance the black that they’ve had? So, I decided to add the gold on the black,” she said.

The announcement was later confirmed on her Instagram page, where she shared her excitement:

“A new chapter, written with purpose, vision, and heart. Leading with honour, the Highlanders way.”

Reactions quickly flooded social media after her first appearance. While some questioned the legitimacy of the deal, others celebrated her boldness and strategic move into a new market.

One user commented, “I hope there are no fraudulent signatures,” while another wrote, “Ay no, imali ya lo mama is long ngeke bamuqede,” loosely meaning MaMkhize’s wealth is vast and untouchable.

A user named @SETHUSTUART chimed in with excitement: “I’m joining Mbabane Highlanders. I am just waiting for the kit; it will be fire.”

Another user, @KingTp95, noted the broader implications of her move.

“This played right could be a smart move. SA is a mature market. Africa has so much potential. SADC has so much potential. A lot of quality South African players will now migrate to Eswatini.”
