Zodwa Wabantu threatens legal action after doctor complains her sexy drip ad ‘disrespects’ medicine
South African entertainer Zodwa Wabantu has come out guns blazing against a medical doctor she accuses of interfering with her personal and professional life.
In a strongly worded Instagram post, the reality TV star called out Dr Neven Govender, alleging that he filed a formal complaint against her over a promotional video she posted involving a massage and a vitamin drip.
Zodwa claims the doctor accused her of sexualising the medical profession, an allegation she flatly rejects.
“To the public. I have a story. Dr Neven Govender @drn_gov is interfering with my life,” she wrote.
“He is violating my constitutional rights and my right to freedom of expression to dress up how I choose to dress up.”
According to Zodwa, Dr Govender filed a complaint claiming that her promotional content was inappropriate and damaging to the image of the medical profession.
But she’s not taking the criticism lightly and has vowed to take legal action.
“It is sexual in his dirty mind,” she said. “I’m going to sue him now and take him to the Equality Court.”
Zodwa further accused Dr Govender, who reportedly practices at Phoenix Plaza in Phoenix, Durban, of cultural and religious discrimination.
She claimed that both she and her doctor, who had collaborated with her for the wellness promotion, were being unfairly targeted due to her public image and traditional beliefs.
“Lodoti uthuka isintu nenkolo yam. He is discriminating against me and my doctor, who embraces people of all different cultures and beliefs,” she said.
In closing, Zodwa questioned Govender’s authority to dictate how she lives or dresses.
“If I walk in public, with my clothes, who is he, Dr Govender to insult my clothes and interfere with my money?”
