Nimrod Nkosi details heartbreak after ex-fiancée faked pregnancy for six months
Veteran actor and TV host Nimrod Nkosi has opened up about a deeply personal and painful chapter in his life involving a shocking betrayal by his former fiancée more than 20 years ago.
In a candid interview on King David’s podcast, the former Jam Alley presenter revealed how he was misled into believing his then-partner was pregnant with triplets, a lie she sustained for months using stolen ultrasound scans.
Nkosi, who has starred in productions like Law, Love & Betrayal and I Am King, said the emotional and financial toll of the scam still lingers.
“I was introduced to the most vile person, who set me back economically and emotionally, and I take that L (setback),” he said.
“The main thing was to go home.”
The fabricated pregnancy reportedly began in 2003. According to Nkosi, his then-fiancée even faked physical symptoms and used false medical documents to convince him she was carrying triplets.
He was so convinced that he began preparing for the children’s arrival, buying everything in threes. It wasn’t until six months later that she confessed there was never a pregnancy.
“I learned about phantom pregnancy, where a woman can desire that the body will act accordingly,” Nkosi explained.
“You see what you want to see,” he added, reflecting on how love and hope clouded his judgment.
The conversation also touched on his current marriage to Charlene Tjoe, which the actor described with visible difficulty.
When asked by host David Mashabela how things were going, Nkosi paused before admitting, “Hard.”
He elaborated with a quiet vulnerability: “I need the wind behind that sail. My sails are down. It’s hard. Yeah, but no one can do it alone. I’m not gonna lie because God knows.”
