Simphiwe Dana’s blunt post about men reignites talk about her sexuality
Singer Simphiwe Dana has once again set social media alight after sharing her thoughts on men in a viral X (Twitter) post.
The Ndiredi hitmaker, who has openly embraced her identity as a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, took to the platform on 20 August 2025 to vent her frustration.
“Yoh! Asile amadoda. This is why I prefer being a lesbian shem,” she wrote, a statement that quickly divided her followers.
While some fans were surprised by her blunt words, others revisited the moment she came out, recalling how she admitted it had taken her years to accept herself fully.
At the time, Dana told her supporters: “It took me a long time to accept that I’m queer. And please, take it from me. I have never lied to you. I’m now getting married to the most amazing person. I need you to be happy for me.”
The award-winning singer later revealed her engagement to German-based partner Phumeza Matshikiza, a relationship that initially triggered mixed reactions online but has since been celebrated by many of her fans.
