Minnie Dlamini responds after Kaya FM fires Sol Phenduka
Television star Minnie Dlamini has clarified her position following Kaya FM’s decision to part ways with Sol Phenduka.
Phenduka, who was reportedly earning around R100,000 a month, was dismissed from the station’s breakfast show on Monday, 1 September 2025, after backlash over comments he made about Dlamini on Mac G’s Podcast and Chill.
In a statement shared with News24, Dlamini made it clear that she had no role in the radio host’s dismissal.
“While I’m not involved in Kaya 959’s internal decisions, I do appreciate that institutions are recognising the seriousness of the derogatory remarks that were made,” she said.
Her clarification comes as she continues with a legal case against Phenduka and his co-host Mac G Mukwevho.
Dlamini is reportedly demanding R2.5 million in damages, with the matter now before the Equality Court on charges of hate speech, unfair discrimination, and gender-based harassment.
Confirming Phenduka’s exit, Kaya FM stressed that it would not tolerate the language used on the podcast.
“Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG podcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with respect owed to women,” the station said.
