DJ Poizen’s tombstone unveiled
The late South African music producer and DJ Poizen was finally laid to rest this past weekend, but it was his tombstone that grabbed the spotlight on social media.
A video of the unveiling ceremony surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), showing a striking tombstone designed with a statue of the DJ, a DJ controller, speakers, and a headset.
The clip was captioned: “The beautiful tombstone for Producer and DJ Poizen was unveiled after his burial in Tzaneen, Limpopo.”
While some admired the detailed tribute, others were quick to question the grand gesture, especially in light of earlier reports that the family had sought public donations to cover burial costs following Poizen’s tragic death in a car accident.
One user reacted bluntly, writing, “Cha. They’re doing too much. Seriously.” Another added, “Carry on guys, isn’t this the same people who needed donations??”
Others weighed in on the design itself.
A comment read, “Limpopo’s tombstones are insane,” while another noted, “Don’t mean to sound insensitive but didn’t the media report that the family was struggling and in need of donations?? 🤔 Or maybe it was another artist?”
One critic went as far as saying, “The statue was unnecessary. Ruined the tombstone…”
