Diddy pens emotional letter begging judge for mercy ahead of sentencing

P Diddy begs judge before sentencing

American hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is making a last-ditch plea for mercy as he awaits sentencing, where he could face up to 20 years in prison.

The Bad Boy Records founder, who was acquitted on two of the most serious charges against him, submitted a three-and-a-half-page letter to Judge Arun Subramanian ahead of the court date on Friday, 3 October 2025.

In the heartfelt note, Diddy admitted his mistakes and asked for another chance, saying he was “scared to death” at the thought of being separated from his family for such a long time.

He wrote: “This has been the hardest 2 years of my life, and I have no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”

The disgraced mogul apologised to his former partner Casandra Ventura, recalling the abuse scandal that continues to haunt him.

“The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved.”

He also extended his apology to another victim, identified in court as Jane, while promising never to repeat his past actions.

Diddy stressed that his children remain his biggest motivation to turn his life around.

“I ask you for mercy today, not only for my sake, but for the sake of my children. I can’t change the past, but I can change the future. I have been humbled and broken to my core.”

Social media quickly erupted after news of the letter broke.

Some users expressed sympathy, while others mocked him. @zenzo99815279 commented, “This unfair justice system. Free Diddy.”

Meanwhile, @BlueNip dismissed his apology, writing: “Are we not tired of these narcissistic sociopaths who have no conscience when they do the crime and then play victim when they get busted?”

South Africans even dragged local politics into the conversation, joking that EFF leader Julius Malema who was recently found guilty in his firearm case might pull the same stunt.

One user, @Kane_GM9, quipped: “This will be Julius Malema next year, begging the boere missies 😄.”
