South Africa’s Bafana Bafana qualifies for FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating Lesotho

South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after beating Rwanda 3 – 0.

The qualification comes after suffering a three-point and three-goal deduction by FIFA for fielding Teboho Mokoena during a World Cup qualifier match against Lesotho.

Mokoena, who was suspended due to yellow cards received in matches against Benin and Zimbabwe, was still fielded in the match against Lesotho, hence the three-point deduction.

South Africa, who will be present for the first time since hosting the World Cup in 2010, secured their spot after finishing top of their group with 18 points, the points were accrued after playing against Nigeria, Benin, Rwanda, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
