‘Youngins’ actress Londiwe Nene dies at 35, family suspects poisoning

Londiwe Nene has passed away

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Londiwe Faith Nene, best known for her role as Aunt Thuli in the TV drama Youngins.

The actress passed away on Saturday, 11 October 2025, in what her family believes to be a case of suspected poisoning.

In a statement, the Nene family confirmed her death, expressing their devastation at the loss of their beloved daughter.

“As a family, we are deeply heartbroken by the loss and kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this time of sorrow,” the statement read.

“Your understanding, compassion and prayers mean a great deal to us as we find strength and comfort in one another.”

Speaking to Sunday World, Londiwe’s sister, Lethukuthula Nene, revealed that the family was still struggling to come to terms with her sudden passing.

“I don’t even know what to say or where to begin,” she said, adding that her sister’s death came as a complete shock.

According to Lethukuthula, the family suspects that Londiwe may have taken her own life.

“She drank poison. That is what it seems like. But we will get all the details on time from professionals. But it was poison; she drank poison,” she explained.

She went on to say that Londiwe had not shown any signs of distress or sadness before the incident.

“We really don’t know why she did this. Everything was okay, well, we thought,” she said.

Londiwe Faith Nene was a rising star in South Africa’s entertainment scene.

In addition to her role on Youngins, she appeared in shows such as Outlaws, Adulting, and Aunties, where she played Rachel Ndlovu under Pula Bakgaga Media.
