Gogo Maweni to appear in court while preparing for new reality show ‘Thokoza Gogo’

Gogo Maweni faces assault charge as she prepares to debut new reality show
Celebrity sangoma and reality TV personality Gogo Maweni is set to make a court appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court in Soweto on October 22.
The mzansi star is faced a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm over an alleged incident that took place on December 18, 2019.
The matter was previously postponed to October 15 to allow Maweni, whose real name is Makhotso Lee-Anne Mofokeng, time to give birth to her twins and recover after pregnancy.
It has now been rescheduled for next week.
Despite the legal cloud hanging over her, the 39-year-old mother of five is pressing forward with her television career.
She recently wrapped filming for her upcoming Moja Love reality show, Thokoza Gogo, which will capture her life as a healer, mother, and wife.
Speaking about the project, Maweni said fans will get to see a more personal side of her this season:
“People can expect me to do what I do. This year, because of my pregnancy, there will be fewer traditional things, because when you’re pregnant, there are certain things you can’t do.”
She reflected on the importance of prioritizing her health and family after suffering a miscarriage in the past due to overworking.
“Last year I had a miscarriage because I didn’t want to stop working and I continued as normal. So this year, when we found out we were pregnant, I decided to take a back seat and put my pregnancy first,” she explained.
Maweni, who shares her twins with her husband Sabelo, added that the pregnancy came at a meaningful time, shortly after their traditional wedding in August 2024.
“Being pregnant this year is something I know he wanted. Besides doing this for our marriage and building our family, I felt this was more important to me,” she said.
Her new show, she added, will take viewers through her journey of balancing motherhood, spiritual responsibilities, and the challenges that come with public life.
“This show is just going to show how I live, what I’ve been doing throughout the pregnancy, and the trials and tribulations of my life.”
