US lawyer offers free legal help to Nota Baloyi after visa revocation

International lawyer set to help Nota and others whose US visas were cancelled
An award-winning American immigration attorney has stepped forward to offer pro bono legal assistance to Nota Baloyi and several others.
Those whose US visas were recently revoked for allegedly celebrating the death of American commentator Charlie Kirk have cried out on socials and help is coming their way.
The South African music executive was among six individuals whose visas were reportedly cancelled by the US State Department following their controversial online remarks about Kirk’s assassination.
On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, Eric Lee, a respected US lawyer and recipient of the 2024 Jack Wasserman Award for Excellence in Litigation, took to X (formerly Twitter) to extend his support to those affected.
“If your visa was denied or revoked due to Charlie Kirk-related speech, the Consular Accountability Project (@ConsularActProj) is interested in representing you pro bono,” Lee wrote.
His message quickly went viral, earning praise from social media users who commended his willingness to uphold freedom of expression.
However, some remained skeptical, suggesting that challenging the US government’s decision might not be successful.
