Shebeshxt accused of shooting motorist in Polokwane road rage incident

Shebeshxt under investigation after allegedly shooting motorist in Limpopo road rage incident
Controversial rapper Shebeshxt has once again found himself at the center of a storm after he allegedly shot a motorist during a heated road rage altercation in Polokwane on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the incident unfolded when the rapper, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, got into an argument with another driver over reckless driving on one of Polokwane’s busy streets.
The verbal clash quickly escalated, and moments later, gunfire erupted.
Sources claim that the motorist was shot in the upper body and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
“The motorist was rushed to a local hospital, where he is fighting for his life. He is apparently in the intensive care unit,” said a source who asked not to be identified for safety reasons.
Witnesses allege that Shebeshxt, known for his hit song Ambulance, had parked at a nearby filling station when the other driver followed him there.
Both men reportedly stepped out of their cars, and that’s when the confrontation turned violent.
The rapper is said to have pulled out a firearm and shot the motorist before fleeing the scene.
The matter was reported at the Westenburg Police Station, where a case of attempted murder was opened against the artist.
Sources further allege that Shebeshxt later surrendered himself to police through his legal representatives and was briefly detained.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when detectives from the provincial police headquarters allegedly intervened and ordered his release.
“They took the docket from the Westenburg Police Station and said the matter is being investigated by the murder and robbery unit. They will obtain statements from Shebeshxt and the victim once investigations have been completed,” the insider explained.
The decision to release the rapper has reportedly angered the victim’s family, who believe justice is being delayed.
The source added that the family was deeply frustrated by the move and threatened to take matters into their own hands if no action is taken.
Limpopo police have since confirmed that they are investigating an attempted murder case linked to the incident, which took place on 19 October 2025.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the case has been handed over to the murder and robbery unit on the orders of Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
“The police have a person of interest, and once investigations are complete, they will take the necessary actions. The investigation has been intensified, and an arrest is imminent at this stage,” said Ledwaba.
