Jub Jub breaks down as he begs Kelly Khumalo to give him access to their son

South African rapper and TV personality Jub Jub has once again spoken out about being denied access to his teenage son, Christian Khumalo.

In emotional Instagram videos shared on Sunday, 2 November, the Uyajola 9/9 host begged the child’s mother, Afropop singer Kelly Khumalo, to stop painting him as an absent father and allow him to have a relationship with their child.

Jub Jub thanked Kelly for how she has raised their son so far, but expressed that he’s tired of fighting from the outside.

He says he has been trying to be part of Christian’s life ever since he was released from prison in 2017, insisting that he has always made efforts to show up and do things correctly, both legally and traditionally.

“You know how many times I’ve tried to get a hold of you to try and get the boy. You know how many times your sister Gumede and your mother have been trying to talk about me meeting the boy,” Jub Jub said.

He accused Kelly of intentionally shutting him out and controlling the situation: “Stop making my child AI, it’s not nice, it’s not fair. Stop saying I am a deadbeat dad.”

He added that there were occasions where he even attempted a traditional process of paying damages and ukugeza umuzi, yet claims he still couldn’t gain access.

According to him, he has sent gifts for holidays and special moments over the years, but nothing has changed.

The TV presenter expressed that he does not want a messy legal battle because of the emotional impact it may have on Christian, and emphasised that he isn’t trying to take custody.

“I want my child,” he said, expressing frustration about having to drive to his son’s school just to catch a glimpse of him.

Kelly Khumalo previously stated during an interview on The L-Tido Podcast that out of all her baby fathers, the late Senzo Meyiwa was the only good dad; a statement that many believe added fuel to the ongoing public tension between her and Jub Jub.
