Mihlali Ndamase reportedly faces over R580K tax bill from SARS

South African influencer and businesswoman Mihlali Ndamase is said to be in trouble with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) over a mounting tax bill reportedly exceeding R580 000.

According to reports, SARS issued a final letter of demand to the popular content creator after she allegedly failed to settle her personal income tax.

The initial amount she owed was reportedly around R490 000, but with added penalties and interest of more than R85 000, the total figure has now surged past R580 000.

A source revealed that the final notice from SARS, dated June 5, came just weeks after Mihlali made headlines for purchasing two Hermès Birkin handbags worth about R1 million.

In the letter, SARS reportedly warned her to settle the amount within 10 days or enter into a payment arrangement.

Failure to do so could lead to the seizure and auctioning of her assets.

“According to the records of the South African Revenue Service, you have failed to pay your tax debt for one or more tax years and tax periods. You are requested to make full payment within 10 days from the date of this letter of demand,” the letter reportedly reads.

The tax authority also outlined alternative options for the media personality, including applying for an installment plan, or suspension of payment if she intended to dispute the debt.

However, reports suggest that Mihlali, who had previously vowed to challenge the figures, has not taken formal action to contest the claim.

SARS further warned that if she fails to comply, it could obtain a civil judgment, instruct the sheriff of the court to attach her assets, or appoint third parties who owe or hold money for her to redirect those funds toward the debt.

“Failure to make full payment or use the above remedies may result in SARS appointing any third party who presently or in the future will owe you money or hold money for you to settle your tax debt with this money,” the letter continues.
