Zandie Khumalo defends Jub Jub amid claims Kelly Khumalo blocked him from seeing their son

Zandie Khumalo says Jub Jub and Kelly are stubborn about their son’s case
Singer Zandie Khumalo-Gumede has broken her silence following Jub Jub’s emotional outburst about being denied access to his son, Christian, whom he shares with musician Kelly Khumalo.
The Ndikhokhele Remix rapper took to Instagram on Sunday, November 2, expressing deep frustration over what he described as years of rejection and blocked attempts to reconnect with his child.
He accused Kelly of keeping him away from their son despite his efforts to be involved in his life both emotionally and financially.
“I don’t want to go to court fighting over this,” Jub Jub said.
“You know how many times I’ve tried to get hold of you to reach my son. You know how many times your sister [Zandie], [Mhlo] Gumede, and your mother have been trying to talk about this so I can have access to my son. You’re controlling my son as if he’s an AI. I’m not a deadbeat dad.”
He claimed that even during his time in prison, he made attempts to send gifts to his son, but they were returned.
“I’ve tried every possible way to do the right thing, even offering to pay damages and perform the necessary cultural rites, but I keep getting blocked,” he added.
Their troubled relationship dates back to their early romance in the late 2000s, which ended dramatically after Jub Jub was convicted in connection with a car crash that killed four schoolchildren in 2010.
Kelly raised their son alone during his incarceration, and the two have since remained estranged.
In a recent interview, Zandie confirmed that her brother-in-law has made several efforts to mend his relationship with his child.
She said she decided to speak up because the matter concerns her nephew, whom she loves and treats like her own.
“Normally, I wouldn’t comment on this, but because it concerns Christian, I feel compelled to speak up,” she explained.
“I care about my nephew deeply and treat him as my child. When it comes to him, no one can tell me what to do.”
According to Zandie, both she and her mother once tried to mediate between the two parents, but their efforts didn’t yield results.
“At one point, my mother and I were mediating discussions, but unfortunately nothing came of it,” she said.
“Molemo also wanted to come and pay damages at home. He even spoke to my husband, Gumede, who then spoke to my mother. Sadly, that too didn’t work out due to a lack of cooperation on our side.”
While choosing her words carefully, Zandie noted that both Jub Jub and Kelly share responsibility for the ongoing fallout.
“Molemo and Kelly still have unresolved issues, which are clear from their public feuds. I don’t want to get into details, but Molemo has genuinely been trying and keeps getting rejected,” she said.
She also revealed that her nephew has expressed a desire to see his father, but she cannot intervene without Kelly’s consent.
“I’ve also spoken to Christian about his father; it’s clear he wants to see him, but I cannot take him to his father without his mother’s permission. Both Molemo and Kelly are at fault. They have hurt each other deeply, and they need to resolve their issues first before they can co-parent effectively,” she said.
