On what would have been Brenda Fassie’s 61st birthday on 3 November 2025, Gemma visited her aunt’s statue in Langa, Cape Town, and posed beside it in a moment that felt straight out of the ’80s.

Dressed in a stylish white top, leather mini skirt, and beret, an unmistakable nod to Brenda’s bold fashion sense, Gemma held a microphone and flashed a mischievous smile that sent fans into a frenzy.

The short clip, captioned “Happy 61st Birthday Auntie Brenda”, quickly went viral, amassing more than 1.1 million views on X (formerly Twitter).

Social media users couldn’t help but point out the striking resemblance between the young creator and her famous aunt, with many joking that Brenda had “come back” through her niece.
