Amanda du Pont has stepped forward in a powerful show of solidarity, donating R100,000 to Women for Change ahead of the women’s national shutdown taking place on November 21.

Women for Change has urged women and girls across the country to turn their profile pictures purple and join a 15-minute standstill at noon on Friday.

The shutdown, scheduled just before the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, is meant to honour the 15 women killed daily in South Africa and to demand that gender-based violence be declared a national disaster.

Amanda made the generous contribution through her skin care brand, Lelive, emphasising that the fight extends far beyond one demographic.

“I just want to acknowledge that this happens across all genders and to children as well. There are some incredible men behind the movement, so we are no longer standing alone and we welcome our entire community to stand with us. To whoever has been affected, we stand and fight for you too,” she said.

Her donation marks a historic moment for the organisation. Founder Sabrina Walter expressed deep gratitude, saying the contribution left her emotional.

“I am crying seeing this. This is the largest donation we have ever received and knowing that it came from such a beautiful, courageous woman makes it even more meaningful. I am so proud of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
