Nandi Madida slams Errol Musk over ‘we fed them’ apartheid remarks

Nandi Madida calls out Errol Musk after controversial apartheid comments spark uproar

Errol Musk has ignited outrage across South Africa after insisting in a recent CNN interview that white South Africans “fed” black people during apartheid, a remark many have described as deeply offensive and historically inaccurate.

The father of billionaire Elon Musk appeared on Donie O’Sullivan’s upcoming special, MisinfoNation: White Genocide, where he dismissed the existence of racial oppression under apartheid.

“How do you oppress? You know, we gave them work, we fed them,” he said during the interview.

“They grew from a tiny little group into a massive group. That’s not oppression, that’s feeding them! You only grow big if you get fed. You only start at 800,000 and become 50 million if you get fed! We fed them, for crying out loud! You know, enough with this nonsense.”

His comments quickly spread online, prompting strong reactions, including from media personality Nandi Madida, who refused to let the remarks go unchallenged.

On 16 November 2025, Nandi responded with a nine-photo collage showcasing scenes of traditional African life and food preparation, accompanied by the pointed caption: “We fed them.”

In a follow-up post, she expanded on why she felt compelled to speak out.

Nandi said she refuses to allow the next generation of black South Africans to inherit distorted narratives about their roots.

According to her, African ancestors were innovators and builders long before colonial interference.

“I refuse for future generations to be brainwashed into believing our ancestors were anything less than extraordinary,” she wrote.

“Africans come from brilliance, civilisation, innovation and genius, and colonialism has continuously appropriated, rewritten and exploited that at our expense. Our children deserve to know the truth about where they come from.”
