Olivia Yacé quits Miss Universe title, says “my values come first”

Olivia Yacé dumps Miss Universe Africa and Oceania title

Ivorian beauty queen Olivia Yacé has stepped away from her Miss Universe Africa and Oceania title, saying the decision was driven by her commitment to integrity and the principles that guide her life.

In a message shared on her official Facebook page, Yacé reflected on her journey at the Miss Universe 2025 finale in Bangkok, where she finished as fourth runner-up.

She described the experience as one that pushed her beyond her limits. “As Côte d’Ivoire’s representative at Miss Universe 2025, I proved I am capable of achieving great things despite adversity. The competition tested my strength, determination, and readiness to overcome challenges,” she wrote.

Yacé said stepping down was necessary to remain aligned with her personal values.

“To continue, I must remain true to my pillars: respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity,” she said, framing her decision as a thoughtful choice rooted in purpose rather than emotion.

Announcing her withdrawal from both the continental title and any future involvement with the Miss Universe Committee, she explained that while pageantry has shaped her with discipline and direction, she no longer believes she can reach her full potential under the limitations of the role.

Her longstanding mission, she emphasised, has always been to uplift and empower the next generation.

“I want to be a role model for young girls, encouraging them to confidently enter spaces where they may feel unwelcome and to embrace their identity proudly,” she said, adding that stepping away allows her to fully dedicate herself to those ideals.

Yacé also delivered a powerful message to Black and Afro-descendant communities around the world, urging them to stay courageous and visible.

“I call upon Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities to continue entering spaces where you are not expected, opening paths for those who follow. Never allow others to define or limit your potential. Our presence matters, and our voices must be heard.”

She ended her announcement by congratulating the newly crowned Miss Universe, sending well wishes to Miss Universe Jamaica, and thanking her supporters for standing by her.

With optimism, she declared she is ready for what comes next.

“I now embark on a new journey with unwavering determination to uplift and inspire. Thank you to all who have been part of this exceptional adventure. IT’S TIME FOR AFRICA.”
