Kanye West postpones Johannesburg concert as organisers are dropped from project
Kanye West’s highly anticipated Johannesburg concert, originally set for 13 December 2025, has officially been postponed, confirming suspicions that the event was unlikely to go ahead as planned.
In a statement from Ye’s manager, Peter Jideonwo, it was revealed that the show is being reworked into a much larger Yeezy-led production.
“Yeezy LLC confirms that Ye’s Johannesburg performance is being expanded into a larger Yeezy-led production in South Africa,” the statement read.
“To support the bigger production and broadcast plans, the performance previously scheduled for Saturday, 13 December 2025 will not be taking place on that date and is moving to a new date.”
Jideonwo added that Ye remains committed to performing on the continent.
“Ye and the Yeezy team remain committed and excited to perform in South Africa and to share the Johannesburg homecoming live and via broadcast with fans worldwide.
A new date will be announced in the coming days via Ye’s verified channels and Yeezy LLC,” the statement concluded.
The update also confirmed that Monyake Group, the company originally announced as the show’s promoter, has been removed from the project.
“Yeezy LLC is no longer working with the previously announced promoter on this project due to non-compliance,” the statement said.
Fans who already purchased tickets will receive full refunds through TicketPro.
The Johannesburg postponement follows a similar situation in Brazil, where Kanye’s show scheduled for 29 November 2025 was cancelled just a week before the date.
The original venue in São Paulo terminated its agreement in October, and the city’s mayor later stated that no public space would be allocated for the performance.
In a statement issued by the Brazil organisers, they confirmed they could not secure a venue that met Ye’s requirements.
“With great regret, we announce that the concert of artist Kanye West (YE)… will not be held,” the organisers said.
They added that escalating production demands and political constraints made it “impossible to deliver the event”.
A new date for Kanye’s South African performance is expected to be announced soon.
