Lynn Forbes comes face-to-face with AKA’s alleged killers in emotional court appearance

Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 25 November, where she came face-to-face with the two men accused of killing her son.

The emotional appearance comes nearly two years after AKA and his close friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead outside Wish Restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023.

The accused, brothers Siyabonga Gezani and Malusi Dave Ndimande, made their second appearance in the South African court since being brought back from Eswatini earlier this month.

Both men, who are Eswatini nationals, were arrested by the Royal Eswatini Police Service in 2024 at a house they had been renting in Mbabane.

Authorities allege that one of the brothers pulled the trigger during the deadly attack.

Lynn attended the proceedings from the public gallery, watching intently and frequently turning her eyes toward the brothers throughout the appearance.

Her presence in court follows a deeply emotional message she shared when the suspects were extradited to South Africa.

In an Instagram post, she wrote about the pain of reliving the trauma and her longing for true justice.

“If you were the one coming home today… that would be justice for me. Everything else is just process. This South African air is suffocating today… I cannot breathe,” she wrote.
