Trace Africa officially rebrands to Trace Ngoma

Trace, in partnership with Canal+ and MultiChoice, has announced that Trace Africa will soon be known as Trace Ngoma.
The revamped platform will spotlight the country’s diverse sounds, from amapiano and Afro-pop to maskandi, hip-hop, gqom, lemkompo and urban gospel, giving local artists and genres a bigger stage.
MultiChoice CEO Willington Ngwepe said the change reflects exactly what South African viewers have been asking for.
“Our customers want to see themselves reflected on screen … their music, their languages, their culture. Trace Ngoma brings that to life in a powerful way. The rebrand aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver meaningful local entertainment that celebrates who we are as South Africans,” he said.
The new identity will officially go live on December 18 on DStv Channel 326.
Trace described the refreshed channel as a space rooted in local pride and cultural expression.
“Trace Ngoma is where music meets identity. It amplifies the rhythms and stories that define South African culture and gives young people a space to connect and feel seen,” the network shared.
