Lungile Siyaphi celebrates emotional victory after being crowned White Star Miss Soweto 2025
Lungile Siyaphi is still soaking in the moment after being crowned the new White Star Miss Soweto at the 46th edition of the pageant.
The newly crowned queen shared her heartfelt gratitude in a post on social media, saying she’s still processing the life-changing win.
“The feeling is still sinking in, but gratitude fills my heart. I’m thankful for everyone who believed in me, supported me through it all, and helped me stay strong,” she wrote.
Siyaphi claimed the crown at the grand finale held at the Soweto Theatre on Saturday, outshining first princess Boitumelo Molotsana and second princess Kutlwano Zingitwa.
Her victory came with a R100 000 cash prize, while Molotsana walked away with R20 000 and the Miss Social Butterfly award worth R5 000. Zingitwa secured R15 000 for her runner-up position.
Fans who missed the live event will be able to watch it on Mzansi Wethu this coming Saturday, with additional repeats lined up. According to Jonita Cuff, White Star’s marketing manager, the show was a powerful reflection of the community’s pride and resilience.
“The 2025 White Star Miss Soweto pageant was a true celebration of strength, spirit, and community,” she said.
The journey to the crown began on 16 October 2025, when the top 20 contestants were introduced.
In the weeks leading up to the finale, participants attended workshops designed to equip them for leadership roles and prepare them for life beyond the pageant spotlight.
This year’s judges included former Kaya FM broadcaster Bridget Masinga and renowned makeup artist Bongi Mlotshwa, while YFM hosts Nia Brown and Tulz Madala kept the evening flowing as co-hosts. Singer Azana added a special touch to the night with a soulful performance.
