Scandal! star Bongani Gumede reportedly sues Pick n Pay for R1 million after store accident
Veteran actor Bongani Gumede is reportedly heading to court against retail giant Pick n Pay following an alleged accident at one of the company’s stores.
The actor, who currently appears on eTV’s Scandal! and is best known for his role on Isibaya, is said to be demanding R1 million in damages.
According to reports shared on social media on Sunday, 14 December 2025, Gumede claims he was injured after tripping over an unmarked trolley at Pick n Pay’s Steeledale branch.
The incident allegedly left him with injuries severe enough to affect his professional life.
The actor is reportedly seeking compensation for pain and suffering, emotional distress, medical expenses, and loss of income.
It is further claimed that the injury has prevented him from attending auditions, resulting in financial strain.
News of the lawsuit sparked mixed reactions online, with South Africans weighing in on whether the retailer should be held accountable for the alleged incident.
Gumede has previously made headlines for his academic achievements after graduating from Wits University and recently joined the cast of Scandal! following his exit from Isibaya.
