Radio personality Sol Phenduka caused alarm on social media after sharing a vague post that hinted at tragic news involving someone from South Africa’s entertainment industry.

Taking to X on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, Sol expressed distress over information he claimed to have received, without revealing names or details.

His post read: “Eh 💔💔 this country. The violence is too much. I hope the news I’m hearing aren’t true. 😢”

The cryptic message immediately sparked concern and speculation online, with many users trying to guess who or what he was referring to.

Within a short time, reports began surfacing that a well-known South African DJ had been shot and killed in Johannesburg.

Shortly after Sol’s post, SABC News journalist Chriselda Zozi-Lewis confirmed the incident, stating that the DJ had been fatally shot and that police were still at the scene.

She added that the victim’s identity would only be made public once the family had given consent.

“A popular South African DJ has been shot dead in Johannesburg. The family is on scene as it is still cordoned off. We will mention the name once the family gives the go-ahead,” she wrote.

As the news unfolded, some social media users criticised Sol Phenduka for posting incomplete information, arguing that his vague message created unnecessary panic and confusion before facts were confirmed.

At the time of writing, authorities had not yet officially released the name of the DJ, as investigations and family processes were still underway.
