Nota drags Shimza for not publicly mourning DJ Warras
Nota Baloyi has taken aim at DJ Shimza for not publicly mourning the late DJ Warras, who was shot and killed in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
Since news of the respected media personality’s death broke, social media has been flooded with tributes from fans, colleagues and public figures across the entertainment industry.
However, Nota questioned Shimza’s silence, accusing the DJ of failing to acknowledge someone who allegedly played a key role in his career.
Taking to X, Nota called out Shimza for continuing to post unrelated content instead of sharing a tribute to DJ Warras.
“Shimza tweeting about everything under the sun but won’t even post a tributary post in honour of the very DJ Warras that put him on primetime radio… There’s no friends or family in the DJ industry,” Nota wrote.
His comments quickly sparked debate online, with many users pushing back against his criticism and coming to Shimza’s defence.
Several argued that grief is personal and should not be dictated by public expectations.
“It is not fair for you to coerce them into posting what suits you. You have posted for your side and it really is enough,” one user responded.
Another added, “Don’t be like that. Just because he’s not tweeting or posting about him doesn’t mean he’s not hurt. People grieve differently.”

The situation is further complicated by the long-standing tension between Nota and DJ Shimza.
The two have previously been embroiled in legal disputes, with Shimza having taken the outspoken music executive to court months ago.
In the latest development of their ongoing feud, reports indicate that Shimza’s lawyer recently seized over R400,000 from Nota’s personal bank account, linked to comments Nota made during an eNCA exposé involving the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi.
