Cyril Ramaphosa’s son mourns DJ Warras
Tumelo Ramaphosa, the son of President Cyril Ramaphosa, has joined South Africans in mourning the death of DJ Warras, sharing an emotional message in honour of the late media personality.
DJ Warras, a former 5FM and YFM radio host and a respected television presenter, was shot and killed in Johannesburg on 16 December 2025.
His death, which occurred near the Carlton Centre, sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and sparked an outpouring of tributes across social media.
On Wednesday, 17 December, Tumelo Ramaphosa took to Instagram to express his sadness, revealing that he had recently spoken to the DJ shortly before his death.
“@shady_lurker. I was on the phone with you the other day, I had to call you back… 😢 RIP 🙏🏽,” he wrote.
His post quickly drew reactions from fans and followers of DJ Warras, many of whom used the comment section to share their own messages of farewell and disbelief.
Supporters described the killing as heartbreaking and paid tribute to the impact Warras had as an award-winning radio and TV personality.
