Tyla emerges most decorated African female artist of 2025
South African music star Tyla has added yet another historic milestone to her rapidly growing career, officially becoming the most awarded African female artist of 2025.
The global hitmaker has already collected 12 awards this year, a feat that places her at the top of the continent’s female artists in terms of international and local recognition.
Her 2025 wins span major global platforms, reflecting her continued dominance beyond African borders.
Among the accolades Tyla has secured this year are honours from the American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), iHeartRadio Music Awards and the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
She has also taken home trophies from the Kids’ Choice Awards, Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year, African Entertainment Award USA, Trace Awards, NXT Honors, Entertainment Arts Excellence Awards and two Africa Arts Entertainment Awards.
The latest achievement builds on an already extraordinary run over the past few years.
In 2024, Tyla was crowned the most awarded African artist overall after amassing an impressive 28 awards, a year that firmly established her as a global force.
That haul included a Grammy Award, multiple MTV Europe Music Awards, BET Awards, Billboard Music Awards and an MTV VMA, alongside several African and South African honours.
Her 2024 recognition also extended beyond music, with awards celebrating her cultural impact and influence in fashion, creativity and youth culture, further cementing her status as one of Africa’s most influential exports.
