Gagasi FM pulls Felix Hlophe off air as abuse allegations spark investigation

Gagasi FM has confirmed that popular radio personality Felix Hlophe has taken a temporary break from his on-air duties following abuse allegations that gained traction on social media.

The 49-year-old presenter, who hosts the station’s breakfast show The Uprising, stepped aside immediately for a week to allow the station time to review the claims circulating online.

The decision was announced as the festive season drew to a close, with Gagasi FM stressing that the move was precautionary.

In a statement released on 29 December 2025, the KwaZulu-Natal-based station said the temporary break was intended to give Hlophe space to address the matter privately while management assesses the situation.

Hlophe has since responded to the allegations, firmly denying any physical abuse. He indicated that he has handed the matter over to his legal team for guidance and further action.

The comedian and broadcaster is a familiar voice to Gagasi FM listeners, co-hosting The Uprising alongside Minnie Ntuli on weekday mornings from 6am to 9am.

The show is known for its mix of humour, music and current affairs that kick-starts the day for audiences across the province.

Gagasi FM has not confirmed whether Hlophe will return to the show after the one-week break, saying further updates will be communicated once the internal review process is complete.
