Lady Du defends Thatohatsi and celebrates her beauty amid body-shaming backlash

Lady Du supports Thatohatsi
Lady Du has shown public support for amapiano singer Thatohatsi, sharing a heartfelt message aimed at affirming her beauty, confidence, and worth amid recent scrutiny around her appearance.
Taking to social media, the hitmaker posted a photo of Thatohatsi alongside a lengthy caption praising the young artist as a symbol of African beauty and representation.
Lady Du highlighted how confidence in one’s natural body can inspire others, especially young women who often feel pressured to conform to narrow beauty standards.
In her message, Lady Du challenged the idea of a single “perfect body”, writing, “We have been sold a picture of the perfect body that people now feel uncomfortable in the bodies God gave them because we are told a woman with a big ass and small waist is the perfect body.”
She went on to stress that every body is valid, adding, “God would have never created us the way we are if He didn’t think our bodies were perfect as they are.”
The singer acknowledged that people have the right to make choices about their own bodies if it boosts their confidence, while reminding Thatohatsi of her inherent value.
“The Bible says you are made in God’s image,” she wrote, before describing the amapiano star as someone with “star power”, an “international super model” presence, and a gifted vocalist.
Lady Du also offered words of encouragement rooted in faith, suggesting that difficult moments often come with purpose.
“You carry the weight of God’s children, a blessed voice will always go through hard times,” she said, urging Thatohatsi not to lose sight of her worth during challenging periods.
Sharing her own experience, Lady Du revealed that she too grew up as a skinny girl and learned to embrace her body even when confidence was lacking.
“I loved my body… I embraced it,” she noted, closing the post with a clear message of solidarity: “I’m posting you on my wall to tell you how beautiful you are… We love you sis.”
