Motorist linked to Makhadzi crash reportedly opens reckless driving case
Makhadzi makes headlines over fresh legal developments linked to the car accident that left her hospitalised on New Year’s Eve.
The singer was involved in a crash on 31 December 2025 while travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg.
As she continues her recovery, reports have emerged claiming that a motorist involved in the incident has opened a case of reckless and negligent driving at the Mokopane Police Station.
According to Daily Sun, the case was not opened by Makhadzi or anyone from her team, but allegedly by the same driver who struck her.
The move has reportedly confused those close to the award-winning star.
An unnamed source told the publication that the motorist claimed he knocked down a pedestrian at around 8:15am.
He allegedly stated that after the collision, a man exited a black Mercedes-Benz, rushed to assist Makhadzi and transported her to hospital.
The driver is said to have taken note of the vehicle’s registration details before it left the scene.
Makhadzi’s spokesperson, Lucky Tshilimandila, reacted with disbelief to the report, questioning who the case could possibly be against.
“Against who? Because Makhadzi was not driving,” he said. “It also cannot be the driver because the vehicle Makhadzi was travelling in was stationary. She got out of the car and stood outside when she was hit by the motorist. It’s not like our vehicle was moving.”
The development adds another layer to an already troubling ordeal for the Ghanama hitmaker, who recently sparked conversation after using a hospital selfie as cover art for her new song, Operations.
In a previous update to fans, Makhadzi’s team confirmed that she had returned home and was continuing to receive medical care.
They also revealed that a case was opened in Mokopane on the day of the accident, though the circumstances surrounding the newly reported case remain unclear.
