Thatohatsi thanks supporters after painful bodyshaming ordeal

South African Amapiano vocalist Thatohatsi has spoken out following a wave of online support she received after being bodyshamed by podcasters on Piano Pulse, an episode that sparked outrage across social media.

The Thandaza hitmaker had previously become the target of cruel commentary about her appearance, criticism that quickly escalated into cyberbullying and led her to remove all photos from her Instagram account.

The remarks drew widespread condemnation, with fans, fellow musicians and industry figures rallying behind her and calling out the podcasters for their offensive statements.

On Sunday, 18 January 2026, Thatohatsi returned to Instagram to acknowledge the overwhelming support she received.

Sharing a heartfelt message on her Instagram Stories, she expressed gratitude to everyone who reached out with words of encouragement during what she described as a deeply painful time.

“I would like to thank each and every one who has been so supportive of me. I read your messages, comments and videos that were made to uplift me, ngyabonga ngok’khulu ukuy’thoba (thank you very much),” she wrote.

The singer admitted that the kindness she received played a major role in helping her find the strength to move forward.

“Without God and you guys, I don’t think I would’ve gained so much strength to come back and be myself again. May the good Lord bless each and every one of you,” she added.

Reflecting on the emotional impact of the support, Thatohatsi described it as deeply comforting. “Uthando eni ngiphe lona felt like a huge hug filled with love and care,” she wrote, before extending appreciation to her fans, friends and family both in South Africa and abroad.
