Nota Baloyi joins Mac G’s revamped Music Pulse podcast

Nota joins Music Pulse
Media personality Mac G has unveiled major changes to the Podcast and Chill Network, shaking up its music offering with a rebrand and a headline-making addition.
On Tuesday, the network confirmed that Piano Pulse podcast will now operate under a new name, Music Pulse, signalling a broader focus beyond amapiano.
The revamp also comes with a high-profile co-host: controversial music executive Nota Baloyi.
Announcing the development on social media, the network posted: “We have the authority joining Music Pulse 📍 @lavidaNOTA; And don’t worry we have the lawyers.”
The tongue-in-cheek reference to lawyers appears to nod to Nota’s history of outspoken commentary and legal run-ins, a factor that has often placed him at the centre of industry debates.
Reacting to the announcement on X, Nota shared his excitement about returning to the spotlight.
“I was nervous until I heard those cheers… Made my night, here’s to your Tuesdays from the 3rd day of the 3rd month at 3PM. There’s more to SA Music than Amapiano. @podcastwithmacg is the new home of the Music Business Authority, I’m out of retirement!” he wrote.
His statement suggests that Music Pulse will not only tackle amapiano but widen the conversation to cover the broader South African music business landscape, from industry politics to artist development and commercial strategy.
The move marks a strategic shift for the Podcast and Chill Network as it continues to expand its roster of voices and diversify its content.
With Nota now officially “out of retirement,” listeners can likely expect bold takes, unfiltered opinions and heated debates when the revamped Music Pulse premieres.
