Patrice Motsepe ANC presidency talk gains traction after campaign website quietly goes live
Speculation around billionaire businessman Patrice Motsepe potentially eyeing the top seat in the African National Congress has intensified following the quiet launch of a campaign website bearing his name.
The platform, which reportedly went live in the final week of February 2026, carries the slogan “PM27 Siyavumelana”.
The development has sparked fresh debate about whether he could succeed his brother-in-law, President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Despite the growing noise, Motsepe has previously maintained that he is not campaigning for the ANC presidency.
Neither he nor the party’s leadership has officially endorsed or acknowledged the website.
The site positions Motsepe as a “credible, unifying, and visionary leader” capable of steering both the ANC and the country into what it describes as a new era marked by integrity, growth and unity.
It invites supporters to register, pledge their commitment to renewal and respectful dialogue, and select causes they wish to support financially.
Among the listed focus areas are education, health, environmental initiatives, development and disaster relief, although direct donation options are marked as “coming soon.”
The campaign also claims to prioritise tackling corruption, unemployment, economic exclusion and social division.
Figures displayed on the website show that R33,985 has been raised for a Back 2 School Campaign, R11,985 for a January 8th Statement fund, and R43,985 for 2025 Senior Certificate Results support, bringing the total to R89,955 so far.
