Letoya Makhene’s family lands new reality show

A new reality series on Mzansi Magic is set to pull back the curtain on one of South Africa’s most recognisable entertainment families.

Titled The Makhenes, the show follows the lives of the Makhene family across multiple generations, exploring the ties that bind them together while confronting the challenges that have shaped their journey.

At the heart of the story is actress and musician Letoya Makhene, who opens her personal life to viewers as she balances motherhood, public attention and her calling as a spiritual healer.

The series captures her attempts to rebuild and redefine her life while navigating the emotional complexities within her family.

Her story unfolds alongside those of her loved ones, including legendary musician Blondie Makhene and her sisters Pauline and Gontse.

Together, their lives reveal decades of shared history marked by strained relationships, moments of reconciliation and the effort to heal long-standing wounds.

The show also introduces viewers to other members of the family, including Gogo Lily and Letoya’s children, Nubia Mangezi and Tadiwa Mangezi Jr, whose presence adds another generational layer to the narrative.
