Naledi Aphiwe reportedly loses R5 million deal after social media remarks

Naledi Aphiwe loses deal over social media comment

Mzansi singer Naledi Aphiwe is reportedly facing a major professional setback after controversial social media remarks allegedly cost her a lucrative deal worth millions.

The claims surfaced during an episode of Music Pulse that premiered on YouTube on 10 March 2026.

According to the show’s co-host Thakgi, the young star allegedly lost a deal valued at nearly R5 million with the brand Stumbo following comments she made about the new girlfriend of her alleged ex-boyfriend, Mawelele.

“She had a deal that was worth just under R5 million with Stumbo, and she lost it because she made comments about Mawelele’s new girlfriend,” Thakgi said during the discussion.

The development comes shortly after Aphiwe faced criticism over a separate comment directed at a Zimbabwean social media user ahead of her planned performance in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The remark sparked backlash from some fans, prompting the singer to later apologise.

Although many Zimbabwean supporters appeared to accept her apology, the controversy seems to have had lingering consequences for the rising artist.

News of the alleged R5 million deal falling through triggered mixed reactions online.

While some fans sympathised with Aphiwe and argued that young artists often make mistakes in the public eye, others suggested that she could benefit from professional guidance when handling social media and public relations.

Several social media users advised the singer to consider media training or PR support to help navigate the pressures that come with growing fame.
