Naledi Aphiwe breaks silence on alleged R5m deal loss
South African singer Naledi Aphiwe has finally addressed reports that she lost a lucrative brand deal following controversial remarks she allegedly made about her ex-boyfriend’s new partner.
The rising star had been trending after claims surfaced that a partnership with candy brand Stumbo collapsed shortly after she made comments about singer Mawelele and his new girlfriend on social media.
According to a claim made on the Music Pulse podcast, the deal was reportedly worth close to R5 million and would have seen Naledi appear on several billboards as part of the campaign.
“She had a deal that was worth just under R5 million with Stumbo, and she lost it because she made comments about Mawelele’s new girlfriend,” Thakgi said on the podcast.
The allegations quickly spread across social media, with many users criticising the singer and suggesting that her own comments may have cost her a major opportunity.
After remaining quiet for several days, Naledi eventually responded to the controversy and the claims about the lost deal.
In a strongly worded statement, she alleged that certain people were deliberately trying to sabotage her career.
“If you hear that I am dead, do not get shocked. I am so tired and fed up. I hope everyone who is trying to destroy my career will be happy,” she said.
