Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi launches fundraiser and merch after Lebo M’s $20 million lawsuit

Lebo M goes legal against comedian Learnmore Jonasi

Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi is refusing to be shaken after being hit with a staggering $20 million lawsuit from legendary South African composer Lebo M, choosing instead to turn the legal drama into an unexpected opportunity.

The controversy stems from a joke Jonasi made about the translation of the iconic “Nants’ ingonyama” chant from The Lion King, which did not sit well with Lebo M, who has long been associated with the film’s music.

What began as a comedic bit has now escalated into a full-blown legal battle.

Jonasi first shared a now-viral clip of himself being served court papers while performing on stage, a moment that left audiences stunned but quickly became a talking point online.

Shortly after, the comedian revealed he was seeking legal representation, before taking things a step further by launching a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his legal fees.

Setting a target of $20,000, Jonasi has already received significant support from fans, with donations steadily rolling in as many rally behind him in the face of the high-stakes lawsuit.

Not stopping there, the comedian leaned into his trademark humour by introducing merchandise inspired by the situation, inviting supporters to contribute in a more lighthearted way.

“Get your T-shirt now. You can really help me pay these legal fees 😅,” he joked.

His response has earned widespread praise on social media, where fans applauded his creativity and resilience, turning what could have been a career setback into a moment of connection, humour and support.
