Letoya Makhene alleges family betrayal, smear campaign and threats

Letoya Makhene claims family tried to destroy her father, accuses uncle of abusing grandmother and launching smear campaign
Actress and singer Letoya Makhene has opened up about deep-rooted family tensions, making serious allegations involving betrayal, abuse, and intimidation.
Her statement came on Sunday, the same day her family’s reality show, The Makhenes, premiered.
In her message, Letoya honoured her late mother, Agnes Makhene, describing her as a protective figure who shielded her family from harm.
Emphasising this, she wrote, “She protected us fiercely from the world.” She also alleged that certain relatives had plans against her father but were unable to succeed because of her mother’s presence.
Letoya further suggested that her mother became a target, claiming, “They had to get rid of her. They knew it was the only way.”
Turning to recent events, she stated that she confronted her uncle for allegedly emotionally and verbally abusing her 103-year-old grandmother.
According to Letoya, this confrontation led to retaliation, with the relative allegedly attempting to damage her name. She said he chose to “go on a smear campaign” and “lie about my integrity.”
She also accused some family members of trying to affect her livelihood, writing, “They think that it’s ok to take food out of my children’s mouths.”
In a striking part of her statement, Letoya referenced threats against her life, saying, “Next time when you put a gun to my head, pull the trigger because I’m only gonna keep getting up.”
Despite everything, she maintained a defiant stance, declaring that she would continue to stand her ground and protect her loved ones, just like her mother.
